How to Let One Player Skip the Night
By default, Java only skips the night once 100% of online players are in bed at the same time. That works fine solo, but on a server with several people online it rarely happens naturally. The playersSleepingPercentage gamerule lowers that requirement.
Setting It
gamerule playersSleepingPercentage 1
Run that from the panel’s Terminal tab — no / needed. In-game it’s /gamerule playersSleepingPercentage 1, and needs operator permission.
The number is a percentage of currently-online players, not a fixed player count — it scales automatically as people join and leave.
| Value | Effect |
|---|---|
100 (default) |
Every online player must be in bed at once |
50 |
Half of online players must be in bed |
1 |
Any single player sleeping is enough |
0 |
Night skips on its own — nobody needs to sleep |
Why Not Just Set It to 0?
Setting it to 0 removes sleep from the equation entirely — the night skips by itself and beds go back to being spawn points only. Most servers use 1 instead, so sleeping still matters but nobody has to coordinate everyone into bed at once.
